EPL GAMES– We continue our series on statistics from the English Premier League with another interesting read today. We will be looking at the players with most appearances in the history of the competition. These players literally dedicated much of their career playing for one or more Premier League teams over a long period of time thereby amassing record EPL games under their belt. Some are retired, some are still active but no longer in the competition. Here are the top 10 players who have made more EPL appearances in the history of the competition.

GARETH BARRY (653)
Gareth Barry turns 39 in nine days’ time and still plays for West Bromwich Albion in the Championship. In his Premier League days, he played for Aston Villa, Manchester City, Everton and West Brom amassing a total of 653 EPL games. Should West Brom decide to bring him to the Premier League with them if they get promoted, then he can always extend this tally.
RYAN GIGGS (632)
Giggs is seen as the greatest one-team man to ever play in the Premier League. He played for Manchester United from 1990-2014 in a trophy-laden career scoring over a 100 goals and recording over 150 assists in 632 EPL games. Giggs now manages the Welsh national team.
FRANK LAMPARD (609)
Frank Lampard is the envy of midfielders to have ever played in England’s topflight. No midfield player has more goals than the current Chelsea manager with 177 goals to his name. He also provided 102 goals bringing his total goal involvements to 279 in 609 EPL games.
DAVID JAMES (572)
David James is one of the best goalkeepers the Premier League has ever seen. He played for a host of teams including Liverpool, Aston Villa, West Ham, and Manchester City. He is known for reflex saves and getting sent off. James has a record of 572 matches and 169 clean sheets to his name.
GARY SPEED (535)
Speed played for Bolton in their golden era. He also starred for Everton, Leeds, and Newcastle in his playing days. Speed played a total of 535 EPL games before retiring from football in 2010. He was a versatile player who could play in the midfield and fullback positions. Speed was Wales’ manager before he died in November of 2011.
JAMES MILNER (532)
James Milner like Barry is one player with longevity too. Milner is 34 years old and has been an important part of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool team. Milner has played for Aston Villa and Manchester City too and currently has 532 EPL games to his name. He definitely has time on his side to increase the tally of games under his belt.
EMILE HESKEY (516)
Heskey was a journeyman throughout his career beginning from Leicester City in 1994 and ending at Bolton in 2016. The big man also starred for Liverpool, Birmingham, Wigan and Aston Villa. His record of 516 EPL games is the most by any English striker in the history of the Premier League.
MARK SCHWARZER (514)
Mark Schwarzer spends the bulk of his time in the Premier League with Middlesbrough and Fulham before moving to Chelsea in 2013 and Leicester City in 2015 before retiring. Schwarzer has a record of 152 PremIER League clean sheets to his name.
JAMIE CARRAGHER (508)
No English defender has played more EPL games than the Liverpool legend. He Starred for the Reds between 1996 and 2013 making 508 appearances before retiring from football. He won 11 trophies with Liverpool including the 2004/2005 Champions League in Istanbul.
PHIL NEVILLE (505)
Phil Neville is one of the popular Manchester United class of ’92. He played for United and Everton between 1994 and 2013 making 505 appearances. No fullback has played more games than Phil in the Premier League and he contributed 9 PL goals from that positions. Neville currently heads the England Women national team.
