The Serie A matches with most goals in the Italian Serie A are not as far in time as those of the EPL. It is amazing that most of the recent games with most goals in Serie A emerged between 2011 and 2019 we will soon be seeing. So Let’s fire on

LAZIO 7-3 SAMPDORIA (2016/2017)

Here is the first game on our list of Serie A matches. The 2016/2017 season was rounding off and Lazio were facing Sampdoria at home. Lazio were two goals up in the opening 20 minutes thanks to goals from Keita Balde and a Ciro Immobile penalty. Karol Linetty’s goal in the 32nd minute halved the deficit and offered a bit of a competitive edge to the game. The game, however, turned to the stuff of exhibition as Wesley Hoedt, Felipe Anderson and Stefan De Vrij all scored 13 minutes after to end the first half with a 5-1 scoreline. Senad Lulic and Ciro Immobile scored in five second-half minutes to make the score 7-1 after 70 minutes. Quagliarella’s brace was all but a consolation.

FIORENTINA 5-4 INTERNAZIONALE (2016/2017)

This game was an intense end-to-end affair. Matias Vecino opened the scoring for Fiorentina after 23 minutes but Ivan Perisic and Mauro Icardi scored within 11 minutes to give Inter the lead. The first half ended with a fair 2-1 scoreline. The second half, however, was going to be a goalfest. La Viola scored 4 goals between the 62nd and 79th minute with Borja Valero assisting two of the four goals. Inter scored two goals late into the game but could not mount a successful comeback.

PARMA 4-5 AC MILAN (2014/2015)

This is the second nine-goal game on our list of Serie A matches. The 2014/2015 season was still in its early stages when the fans of these clubs were treated to this thriller. The first half ended 3-1 with goals from Honda, Bonaventura, and Menez putting the Milan club in the driving seat. Felipe’s goal in the 51st minute reduced the scoreline by one goal but Nigel De Jong restored Milan’s two-goal lead after 17 minutes. Five minutes later and Lucarelli made it 4-3 only for Jeremy Menez to make it 5-3 6 minutes after. Mattia De Sciglio own goal ensured a nervy ending to the game.

INTERNAZIONALE 5-4 GENOA (2011/2012)

Inter are appearing for the second time on our list of Serie A matches. The 2011/2012 season was entering the latter stages and Inter showed the attacking display that saw them won the Champions League and Serie A in 2010. Inter were in the driving seat after 40 minutes with strikes from Diego Milito and Lucio. Genoa fought back 15 minutes into the second half to make the core 3-2 but Inter were having none of that as Zanetti and Milito made the scoreline 5-2. Gilardino’s late brace was not enough to complete a Genoa comeback.

NAPOLI 6-3 CAGLIARI (2011/2012)

The top half of our Serie A matches with most goals is another 9-goal game. Napoli’s ‘holy trinity’ of Lavezzi, Hamsik, and Cavani put Cagliari to the sword as either of them scored or assisted a goal. Lavezzi scored and assisted one goal and Hamsik scored one from a Gokhan Inler assist. Cavani set up one goal. Late Davide Astori also scored for Napoli in that game via an own goal

ATALANTA 7-1 UDINESE (2019/2020)

This game has the highest winning margin on the list of Serie A matches with most goals. Stefano Chuka Okaka had put Udinese one goal up in the 11th minute and it was looking like a smooth ride. A hat-trick from Luis Muriel and a brace from Ilicic put the game beyond Udinese as Atalanta ran out 7-1 winners.

SASSUOLO 3-5 SAMPDORIA (2018/2019)

We have our second away win on our list of Serie A matches with most goals. The first half ended 3-1 in favor of Sampdoria with Quagliarella scoring and assisting one. Defrel was also among the goals. Dennis Praet scored early in the second half to extend Sampdoria’s s lead to three goals and Manolo Gabbiadini completed the scoring for Sampdoria. Duncan, Boga, and Babacar were the Sassuolo scorers that day.

SASSUOLO 2-6 ATALANTA (2018/2019)

The two teams are making their second appearance on our list of Serie A matches and its Sassuolo in another home defeat. Dario Gomez and Duvan Zapata put Atalanta in the lead to end the first half 2-0. Alfred Duncan halved the deficit nine minutes into the second half but a goal from Mancini and an Ilcic hat-trick sealed an emphatic win for the boys in black and blue stripes.

SASSUOLO 5-3 GENOA (2018/2019)

Three Serie A matches with most goals in the 2018/2019 season featured Sassuolo and this is the third. Genoa took the lead after 27 minutes through Piatek but Sassuolo replied with three first-half goals. An own goal from Spolli saw the first half ended 4-1. Piatek’s 62nd-minute strike ended any hope of a historic comeback for Genoa.

LAZIO 6-2 BENEVENTO (2017/2018)

Lazio and Benevento rounds off our list of Serie A matches with most goals. Lazio were a goal up in the 19th minute before Benevento equalized four minutes later. The first half ended with a share of the spoils however, the second half had another show in store. Benevento were in the lead after six minutes but an attacking Lazio masterclass produced 5 goals in 30 minutes sending Benevento home empty-handed.
