This Privacy Policy explains how LegitInformant ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use legitinformant.com (the "Site"). By using the Site you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

  • Websites, links, numbers and wallets you check become public reports so others can benefit. We do not publish who checked them.
  • Messages, email headers and job or romance answers you paste are analysed in memory and discarded. We keep only anonymous counts of which scam types were detected.
  • Passwords in the leak checker never leave your device; only the first five characters of a one-way hash are sent to the Have I Been Pwned service. QR codes are decoded in your browser.
  • Bank details in the account checker are validated on our server and not stored.
  • Reports you publish are public without your email or IP address. We keep a one-way hash of your IP to prevent spam.
  • Account information: if you create an account we store your email address, name and company (optional) and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in readable form.
  • Payments: paid plans are processed by our payment provider, who handles your card details. We receive only confirmation of the payment and your plan.
  • Technical data: like most websites, our servers log IP addresses, browser type, pages requested and timestamps to keep the Site secure and prevent abuse. Logs are kept for up to 30 days.
  • Messages you send us: if you contact us, we keep your message and email address to reply.

How we use information

We use information to provide and improve the Site, operate accounts and paid plans, send alerts you asked for, respond to you, prevent fraud and abuse, and meet legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

Advertising and Google AdSense

We use Google AdSense to show advertising on some free pages. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this Site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in the EU, www.youronlinechoices.eu. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site (hosting, email delivery, payment processing, advertising) under contracts that limit their use of it, when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the public.

Data retention and security

We keep account data while your account is active and delete it within 30 days of a deletion request. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR, UK GDPR and California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. California residents have the right to know what we collect and to opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information — we do not sell personal information. Children

The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA) and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Links to other websites

The Site links to third-party websites, including sites we analyse. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, notify account holders by email.
